What We Do
Each year DHBs are required to release information relating to serious adverse events which have occurred within their hospitals.
A serious adverse event is one which has resulted in significant additional treatment, major loss of function, is life threatening or has led to an unexpected death. The DHB is required to review these events and report them to the Health, Quality & Safety Commission. The Commission then collates this information and it is published on their website
Canterbury DHB Serious Adverse Events Report 2016-17 (154, PDF).
Health Quality and Safety Commission
WellNow Canterbury is our biannual community health magazine. This November 2017 edition features the Canterbury Health System's Quality Accounts which is how we share news of our quality and service delivery improvements with you each year.
In keeping with our strategic aims, we work to support people to stay well and independent in their own homes for as long as possible.
Our goal is to make it easy for you to access the care you need close to home. And if you need to be admitted to one of our hospitals we plan to provide high-quality care that will have you back in your own home sooner, with extra support if required.
