What We Do
Each year DHBs are required to release information relating to serious adverse events which have occurred within their hospitals.
A serious adverse event is one which has resulted in significant additional treatment, major loss of function, is life threatening or has led to an unexpected death. The DHB is required to review these events and report them to the Health, Quality & Safety Commission. The Commission then collates this information and it is published on their website

Health Quality and Safety Commission
Like previous Canterbury Health System Quality Accounts, WellNow, Quality Accounts Edition provides a snapshot of how well the Canterbury Health System is meeting the health needs of our community.
It looks at the past financial year which runs from July 2015 to June 2016, highlighting our successes and what we have learned, as well as our future plans.
It also demonstrates our ongoing commitment to high quality health care, our progress in continuous quality improvement, and how we monitor quality and safety.
